Jay E. Fimple VIEW PROFILE

Jay E. Fimple, Jr. passed away Saturday evening March 7, 2009 after a long battle with colon cancer.

Jay was born on December 20, 1951 in Fairfax, Oklahoma to Jay E. Fimple, Sr. and Hilda Klein Fimple. In 1956 Jay moved with his family to Vinita, Oklahoma. Jay attended Sacred Heart Academy and Vinita Junior and Senior High school where he graduated in 1969.

After high school, Jay attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater and majored in Mechanical Engineering. After his first year of college, Jay joined the Air Force and served in the Security Service (signal intelligence). He was stationed in San Angelo and San Antonio, Texas and the island of Crete in Greece. When Jay was honorably discharged from the Air Force, he returned to Oklahoma State in Stillwater and graduated with a bachelors degree in Mechanical Design Engineering in 1976.

Jay then went to work as a tool designer for Vought Aerospace Corp in Texas. In 1977, Jay returned to Vinita, Oklahoma and took the position of Vice President and Dispatcher at Elliott Truck Line. Later, Jay would become the President of Elliott Truck Line where he served until his death.

Jay was very active in the community and a prominent business man. He was involved with the little league program for many years and was credited with establishing the little league soccer program in Vinita. He enjoyed coaching and working with kids of all ages. Jay was well know for his kindness and generosity. He was a good and loyal friend, a dedicated OSU cowboy, a loving husband and father and will be forever missed my his family and friends.

Jay is survived by his wife Monica, of the home; son Todd Fimple and wife Rebecca of Vinita; daughter Holly Fimple of Tulsa; daughter Trina Fowler and husband Bryon of Owasso; and foster daughter Molleigh Robinson of Stillwater; five grandchildren, Jared, Nathan and Kelcee Fimple of Vinita; and Axyl Langford and Colton Fowler of Owasso. Also, his step father, Vic Spencer of Disney, OK, sister Janice James and husband John of Missoula, Montana; brother Richard (Rick) Fimple of rural Vinita; sister Tricia VonSchriltz and husband Charlie of Pryor; sister Carol Williams and husband Terry of Vinita; and brother Stan Fimple and wife Debbie of Vinita; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jay was preceded in death by both of his parents; a brother Robert(Bobby)Fimple of Disney and several other relatives.

A prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2009 in the Luginbuel chapel. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2009 at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Vinita, with Father Alex Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview cemetery in Vinita.

Jay,

We will all miss you. What a leader when it came to pranks and sparking up a group with one of his many stories.

I still smile when remembering the bushwacking of Jack Holt and you throwing firecrackers under his car. Or throwing a huge water balloon off the old pool hall roof onto McCreary's convertible and you yelling look up just before you did it.
