Obituaries

Jimmy John McLeary, 58, a Chelsea resident, passed away Monday, August 10, 2009 at his home in Chelsea.  The son of Myrl (Linker) and Joe McLeary, Jimmy was born October 3, 1950 in Dumas, Texas.

As a child, Jimmy's family moved to Vinita, where he attended school, and later enlisted in the U.S. Army.  After his discharge he returned to Vinita, where he helped his  father run his bakery, continuing to run it after his father's death.

On April 28, 1976, Jimmy married Barbara Dawn Rodgers in Vinita.  They moved to Bartlesville, where he became a plumber.  Later, they settled in Lawton for several years, before moving back to Chelsea in 2002.  About this time Jimmy enrolled in Victory Bible College.   Jimmy loved cooking and taking long drives, and also considered himself the king of TWABS.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David McLeary.

Survivors include, his children Jonathan McLeary; Stephanie Dewey and her husband Anthony;  grandchildren, Hayden, Alex, Christian, Sean, Kraven, and Steven; and his sister Sharon Dixon. 

He was much loved and will be missed by all.

A memoral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009, at the Assembly of God Church in Chelsea.  Cremation services were provided by Chelsea Funeral Home and Crematory.
