I work as a Special Assistant at the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs. In my role there, I work as the "utility player" at the State Historical Museum. I do what needs to be done and have a great time with my co-workers. Also, I am the Program Coordinator for Iowa Great Places, a community visioning and development program.
In August, 2011, I completed graduate school and earned my Master of Arts in Teaching.
I attended Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. In 2007 I graduated Magna Cum Laude with BAs in Politics, History and International Business.
Since college commencement, I just hang out and do what is fun.
From May-October 2007, I volunteered with the AmeriCorps working in conjunction with the Iowa DNR as the Naturalist at Yellow River State Forest and Pikes Peak State Park. I also bartended at a sweet little place in Clayton, Iowa called Bill's Boat Landing. It's right on the Mississippi at UMR 624.7 and is definetly worth checking out - especially if you like Bloody Marys.
Then I worked as a farmhand in Colorado for a month.
Most currently, I have been working in the Iowa General Assembly as a Legislative Aide for State Representative Dawn Pettengill (R-Mount Auburn).
In May, I'll be moving to West Branch, Iowa where I've accepted a job as a Park Ranger with the National Park Service. I'll be working at the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site.
