Gaila was my friend from junior high at Lake Air, through our high school graduation. She visited me twice during my freshman year at UT - Austin; during one of those visits, we went to the Vulcan Gas Company, perhaps to see Roky Erickson ... I always wanted her to come visit me in San Francisco; I know she would have loved it here.
After her only child, Heath, was killed (motorcycle vs. a Waco garbage truck), Gaila just gave up, I'm sorry to say.
I loved her so much; we used to know exactly what the other one was thinking. I will miss her forever.
