I left Waco for UT Austin in 1967, and never returned. I married very quickly.
I moved to San Francisco in 1975 and started a punk band with my second husband: â’¶lieNation (1978 - 1981) with Naomi Ruth Eisenberg (ex-Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks) on violin and vocals.

I write lyrics and play drum machine. My second band: Dick and Jane, 1988 - 1992, and 2013 to January, 2019. I've started another band, XYZ All-Stars and we had our debut show on Saturday, March 16th. I do my songs as spoken word and was just featured at the 40th Anniversary of Punk in San Francisco. UPDATE: I'm happy to say we have added a bass player and a "real" drummer to Dick and Jane!

I lived in SF from 1975 until 2011, then bought a home in Berkeley.
My mom passed in 2005, my Waco boyfriend in October, 2015 and now, my dearest friend, our classmate Gaila (Thompson) Small left us December, 28, 2015.

My Texas connections are getting smaller and smaller, but my sister Connie (Anderson) Black is in Mexia and a (half) brother and his family are back in Houston now.

UPDATE 4/13/19: I broke up my band "Dick and Jane" and have started "Linda XYZ Band" in preparation for my 70th birthday party and show scheduled for Saturday, August 31st at El Rio in San Francisco. I've done my 65th, 67th, and 69th birthdays there, to ever-increasing crowds: I can't believe I agreed to do a 70th -- it's getting harder to find bands still together who are original punks from the Mabuhay Gardens hey-day. Oh well, the show must go on!

UPDATE 5/28/20: My two-night long birthday event was a hoot. Both nights were fundraisers for Immigrant Families Defense Fund; I was able to donate $800 to that non-profit.
As mentioned above, I held night one of my 7-Oh! show at El Rio. For the second night, September 1st, 2019, I rented a venue and had seven bands; full sets of each band are up on YouTube; search for Linda XYZ Band in YouTube Music to see videos of my set.

The challenge now is to stay upbeat in the face of the pandemic threatening us all, staying positive that "this too shall pass" and preparing for a much different future.

Update, January 7, 2024
My husband and I are in the midst of a very contentious restraining order (RO) and divorce; 27 years of domestic violence later, I am now troubled by heart disease from the stress and I'm permanently disabled due to his assault on me on June 25, 2023. He was jailed and released; he continues to break every provision of the RO that is supposed to protect me.

In conjunction with my 74th birthday, I produced a 3-night event to bring my fans and friends together again in late August. It was broadcast live on the internet by a fan at no cost to me. The venues did very, very well but I was frail and exhausted from the legal and medical issues I've been forced to confront. The "door" made plenty of money to pay the contracts I had with most of the bands; the bar and food sales made the clubs very happy. I needed to do better than break even, but I did not. I will now start to charge a producer/booker fee for the shows I produce now that I have no other income than Social Security.

As for the ugly divorce, I am not a lawyer; he is and he hired a lawyer to represent him when the Judge started "slapping his hand" and has denied all his Motions so far. I have filed all my own legal documents and I'm doing my best to do things the right way.

Some day this nightmare will end; until then, I know that G*d sees all and I am protected by love and someday .. the law. Until then, I have gotten several social services on my "team" so that I have food, reduced utility rates, forgiveness generally when I miss payments on debts I didn't know he put into my name.

Life is a struggle, but Mama didn't raise me to be a sissy. She was a self-described "mean old Mom" but she did her best and I forgive her for her alcoholism and many forms of abuse. RHS knew some of what was going on and let me graduate with my class so I could get into UT-Austin even though I failed chemistry and trig. G*d bless Mr. Latimore, BTW! He tried but I could never study in my chaotic "home." I'm sorry I couldn't be more open with any of y'all; only Gaila Thompson knew of the pain my sister Connie and I were in.

I miss her in the world and I pray we see one another on The Other Side. I wish she wasn't so shy too; she had a dry wit and a wicked sense of humor. We could just look at one another and know what each of us were thinking!

My daughter and grandchildren are doing well in Southern California.

Sending love to all my relations, Linda XYZ

School Story

I'm so sad to read of Larry Nichol's passing; he was the only person to ever invite me to a party at his home.

I think of Arthur Aga every time I do a crossword puzzle asking for "Turkish general." I think we had a little crush on each other, and thinking back, I had a crush on Larry as well!

I wonder if I'm one of the few people who remembers Roland Bounds? He came to RHS maybe in our senior year. He was going to join the Army to fight in Vietnam, but was killed in a gravel quarry accident the summer we graduated. I don't know if I ever spoke to him; I was so awkward and felt like an outsider myself.

My mother didn't allow us much freedom to date or even talk to boys on the phone, so my LaVega boyfriend would drive over from Bellmead right after school and leave notes in my locker and pick-up my note to him.

So of course I married the first boy who asked me at UT! LOL!!

Happy birthday Beth! Thank you for your many kindnesses on FB. I hope to see everyone at our 55th but it would mean that I get to drive to Texas by myself. I would look forward to that, but it might not sit well with someone else, LOL! Sending you virtual cake and ice cream today! Here's a big smile for you, and hopefully a smile for your face too!
