Comments:

Got married in 1982. Moved around the country some. Had a 2 year old and a 1 month old when I decided it would be a good time to go back to the University. Had a third daughter the night I graduated with my BS in Communication Disorders and then finished my Masters in 1993. I've been a practicing Speech Therapist ever since. We have lived in lots of places but moved to Phoenix in 2001 and have been here since. I really like Phoenix but I have to get a little fix of green now and then! I love to travel and just returned from a little trip to the Olympic Peninsula and the Cascades last week.

Lauren is a Senior in HS this year, having the time of her life. Kaylie is preparing to pursue a Culinary Arts degree at Columbia in Chicago, leaving home in March (this will be her third time to leave home) and Maggie is a free spirit in a house full of roommates in Flagstaff, AZ! Not yet ready for the school commitment!

School Story:

I started to school at Whitehouse in the 8th grade. We moved from Tyler, as my parents thought things were getting a little too rough for us there. If they had only known! We started the year in the old middle school building and then finished in the new building. I have many memories of the old gym and the decrepit old locker rooms down at the baseball field. We went to Majors Store to buy candy and Brother Dave's to get fries and cream gravy for lunch. We kept the juke box going with Monster Mash and Stuck in the Middle with You!!

I have many memories of Band. I loved riding the bus to and from games and singing the school song on our way up Wildcat Drive upon our return. I remember feeling that we had the best school in the whole state! Band trips and competitions were fun, too. We practiced marching so much!! I was a freshman and Ray Burkett, who was much taller than me and much older than me, marched behind me. He was always poking me somewhere with his drum stick. I had to get used to that, cuz I was the one who got in trouble for moving if he made me jump. One night we were practicing marching in the rain with puddles on the field. We were marching along when I felt something slimy hit the back of my thigh and start to slide down my leg. I heard Ray giggle. It slid into the heel of my shoe, getting squishier and squishier with every step. When we finally finished and I could look, Ray had thrown a huge earthworm on me! Yuck!!
