What a shock to learn of Doris' death.  I am deeply saddened to be giving her a long awaited 50-year hug!  We shared many high school and some college experiences, and I loved her very much.  Does anyone know where she was living when she died?   Lana

According to Doris' sister, Phyllis, Doris passed away from cancer in 2008. She lived in the Houston area at the time. Phyllis lives in Katy. Following is some additional information from Phyllis, "Dori and Tom had one son and he attended A&M. He is now a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force.  He followed his dad.  He is also a pilot.  He is very smart and has led 2 platoons when deployed to parts unknown  Any questions come to mind, just let me know." From another email, Phyllis wrote, "Doris' husband, Tom, was killed in his plane in 2005 or 2006. She really went down after that and then she got so sick."

Doris was always so full of energy; she worked hard at everything she did, but always cheerful.  She was a sweet spirit.

Doris was a bight presence in our school.  She had such a wonderful spirit and beautiful smile.  I know our entire class mourns her passing.

So sad to learn of Doris passing.  She was beautiful inside and out.

I was saddened to hear of Doris's passing.  She was in my carpool for 2 or 3 years and was such a lovely person.  Doris was fun, interesting and always kind.  She will be missed.

Well, this is very sad news.  Doris and I were close friends in high school and ended up spending a lot of time together.  She was such a good person and great friend.  We lost touch after high school and, regrettably for me, never got it back.  I, too, was really looking forward to seeing her.  She was wonderful.  I hope she knew how fondly she would be remembered by all of us from long ago.

How sad that Doris' son has lost both parents at such young ages. (Well, don't you think we're still young now?) Prayers for Doris' family and all of us who will be missing her. Thanks for all the posts.

I was also in the car pool with Doris.  She was a special person because she was truly nice.  She never had a catty word about anyone and she was kind to everyone.  Her beauty was not just physical...she was also a beautiful person inside.  It's hard to believe she left us at such a young age.  I hope her family sees the postings on this site in order to know how many people remember her so fondly!

Doris' sister is named Phillis McLennan and she is on Facebook.  I told her how to get to Doris' in memory page.  Doris and I dated from the 8th grade until our senior year.  She was a remarkable young woman. I found a few pictures taken at my 17th birthday party.  You can find them on my profile page.
