It is hard to believe it has been 35 years since we graduated from High School. Where has the time gone?

I graduated from OSU in 1984 where I studied Textiles and Clothing with the option of fashion merchandising. I had the opportunity to go on a fashion study tour in NYC that year only because in my father’s words, “I am not paying for you to go to Fort Lauderdale for spring break to booze it up!” He was a big proponent of education and he saw the value of my getting college credit to go on this tour through OSU. This trip had a tremendous impact on my life and it opened up a new world to me.

I started modeling during college and did it professionally while I worked in specialty store management. When I entered an executive training program with a well-known Dayton, Ohio department store, I made the decision to stop modeling.

In December of 1995, I quit a management job at Lazarus Department store and decided to move to Nashville for the second time where I still reside today. This time my brother did not live here so at the time I did not know anyone, had no place to live, I did not have an official job, though I was interviewing with a uniform manufacturer. I only took what I could put in my car; I sold stuff, gave stuff away and put some furniture in storage. It was the best decision I ever made because it got me out of my comfort zone.

What gave me the confidence to take a risk was that I had traveled to Paris, France earlier in the year and I got around by myself without knowing French very well. I figured that moving to Nashville was a piece of cake and it was the best thing I ever did.

I chose Nashville because I wanted to sing Gospel music and this is after all Music City as well as the Bible belt. I was with a large well-known Gospel choir that sang and recorded with various artists such as Amy Grant, Lee Greenwood, and The Gaithers. The choir also sang with Dolly Parton, but that was preceding my years with this ministry.

I changed vocations in 2004 and spent 10 years in the Tech industry. I attended a technical college to obtain tech certifications in order to become a Tech Analyst for a major wireless carrier. I have managed to complete 50 percent of an MBA. (The completion date of this degree is still to be TBD Lol)

Today I am in a great season of life. I am planning to go to Israel/Jordan in January with my church group. I am at a vocational crossroad and am grateful I have the financial resources to figure out what my next venture is.

A friend once told me once to do more of what makes you happy in this life. I am passionate about four things in life and they are God, Music, Fashion, and Politics. Time will tell where the next season takes me.

I hope everyone has a great time at the reunion and I look forward to seeing y’all via social media!
