It has been over a year since my surgery and I am now fully back to work. I had one dose of radiation to kill off the remaining 3% (from 2%) of the tumor. Three months later and an MRI found no more growth of the tumor. I am almost back to normal, but going down stairs is still troublesome. But $300,000 insurance money and lots of support I am still here. I hope all of you are doing fine.
Those who have me on Facebook know that in Oct. 2013 I was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma (schwannoma), a tumor (benign, noncancerous) that grows on the acoustic nerve. Removal was Oct. 28 in an 11 1/2 hour operation at Maine Medical Center. One week @ MMC, another at New England Rehab hospital, then 2 months rehab at home. I am now deaf in my right ear and have some balance issues, but I am mowing the grass instead of feeding it. Another small operation to raise my eyebrow and a gold weight inserted in my eyelid, but I am now back to work thank God.
I also have two beautiful grandchildren, Daniel and Mackenzie, via my son, Paul. My youngest daughter is now married.
Have a great day.
