Basically school and more school. Spent 4 years at OU; completed a year of research and got published in a couple of scientific journals; then moved on to 4 years of medical school at Oklahoma State and graduated with Honors and accepted in the Sigma Sigma Phi medical honor society. I started my internal medicine residency at Wake Forest University Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC then decided to switch to diagnostic radiology. So, I am currently in Chicago at Loyola University Medical Center doing a surgical internship which is required before I am eligible for Radiology. I have already matched into the radiology program at University of Missouri, and that will start in July 2015. I will graduate and become board-certified in diagnostic radiology in July of 2019. Then I can pay off medical school loans for the rest of my life! Some fun things I did during college and medical school: Conservation trip to Thailand in 2007; tour of Europe with my BFF Caryn Novotny in 2008; worked free clinics in inner city Memphis in summer 2010; medical mission to Nicaragua in 2012; then a vacation in Turks and Caicos islands and Panama in 2013! Most memorable moment of this past year: graduating from medical school and hearing my new name: Dr. Chelsea Smith for the first time!
