After graduatiom from Claremont I went to the University of Redlands for 2 years. Then worked graveyard for a year at Glendora Community Hospital. That was an eyeopening experience. Then back to college at Yankton(S.D.) College. My fellow workers at the hospital were sure that I would have to go by stagecoach (having never been to S.D I thought that maybe I would). My folks drove me back. Arrived a couple days earlier than we had anticipated. The campus was covered with 4 foot high weeds and every other store in the downtown was a bar. They weren't sure that they wanted to leave me. It was a great adventure. That's where I met Doug. He was a sacred music major. He graduated in '63. got a job as Minister of Music in Sioux Falls and we were married that September. We lived in South Dakota in a TRAILER
for 2 years out in the middle of the prairie (rocked to sleep every night by the wind howling across the plains). Then he was offered a job as M of M at Claremont Presbyterian Church. Soooooo----back to the old stomping grounds we came.
Have lived in the same house ever since. Scott was born in '68. He is married and has two darling girls--which we don't see nearly enough. They live in Scottsdale, AZ. He is a pilot for Fed-Ex and does mostly the Asia routes. Loves it (doesn't get his love of flying from his white-knuckled mother).
Doug gave up church work and went into full time piano teaching--mostly in our third bedroom. I have been the healthcare business since '59 in one capacity or another--from college infirmary to nursing homes to hospitals to Urology for 17 years.
I have a few stories from there.
So here we are until they cart us off to "THE HOME" --which I threaten to do every now and then. We have done a lot of traveling over the years and anticipate doing a lot more.
