School Story:
Oh man!! De story dem too much! Plus the brain is getting old and when you factor in memory loss... anyway, I do remember that Mr Mac used to love to give the entire class week long detentions, I mean, we weren't EXTREMELY rude. Mr Mac was very creative with the punishment, I remember him playing Crystal Gayle's brand new hit "A Long & Lasting Love" for us ONCE, and then commanding us to regurgitate it word for word on paper, and hand it in before we could leave! Thank God for girls like Denise Morgan and Winsome Wilson who always had songs written in exercise books. At the time I didn't understand the rationale for the detentions, however, I now realise that Mr Mac loved us and wanted to spend some quality time with us!! I forgive u, Mr Mac.
I'll never forget Conroy Jack, who was the "Cosmetologist Extraordinaire" of the class, the boy was quite "FABULOUSSSSS" is all I can say!!
I can also remember getting my fair share of love letters from a few admirers, which I used to hide in my bedroom, and which my mom found while "cleaning" aka "searching" my room, I certainly got an earful from her!
Some of my favourite teachers were Mr Roland "Baminski" Haye, "Stormy" Clarke, Mr Charlton DaSilva, Mr Mac (of course), Mr Smith, Miss Novelette Berry and I think I was probably the only student to like Mr Dwight "Balloon" Lewis, aka "Shaka Zulu".
I couldn't end this piece without mentioning the names of some of my closest friends like Otis Reid, Marilyn Cooke(R.I.P.), Marcia Palmer, Marcia Hines, Albert Hill, these friends helped to make my High School experience more memorable and worthwhile, thanx guys!! Nuff respect!!
