Eckhard was operating a bike store near Montclair called Riegers Bikes or something like that with his name. I went there to buy a trick bike for my sons and commented I knew an Eckhard Rieger in Montclair High school. I was told he was that Eckhard but had passed on from cancer. I was shocked and surpised since passing on was not even a thought in my mind since we were so young. He would play with a soccer ball alone in the gym since it was not even a sport in the school system at that time. He went on to play soccer with FDU in 1963, 64 and 65 per the FDU website when his name wsa googled. I was told at one reunion he got a speeding ticket on his bike on Grove street. Is that possible?
Eckhard was on the MHS varsity soccer team " coached " by Doc Newman. I remember playing on the team with him. He was probably the best player. woody Holloway
