Comments:

Since my time in Korea, I finished college and graduated from BYU, then got married in 1984. I have seven children and was a stay-at-home mom until the youngest started school. I starting working part-time then, and work at the Murray Fire Dept. in the office, and as a tax preparer during tax season. My oldest child is 27, and the 2 oldest are married. I now have 5 grandchildren, who are very busy and lovable. I still have five children at home; my third daughter having served a mission in the Washington Spokane Mission, and is now at home working and going to school. My son Timothy, 21 is living at home and working right now. My son, Philip, is 19, and anxiously awaiting his mission call. I have a son that is 17, a Junior at West Jordan High School, and my daughter, Amelia (13) is in 8th grade. I stay very busy as a mom, and working, and being involved in church and PTA.

Mission Story:

I served in Korea from Nov. 1980 to May of 1982.
I loved serving in the Korea Seoul Mission under President Clement, and had so many great experiences while I was there. It was a growing experience for me, and such a great foundation for the rest of my life. I loved the people that I met there, and look forward to seeing some again as each reunion comes around.

Where do you live now? Where else have you lived? Have you been back to Korea?

I live in West Jordan, UT at the present time. I have lived around the Salt Lake Valley - Taylorsville and Murray, and also spent time in Provo and Logan while I (or my husband) attended college.
I went back to Korea once, 6 months after I returned home, in 1982, helping as a translator on a business trip.

Do you still see, talk to or hang out with any former missionaries/companions? If so, Who?

Those that I see at Reunions.

My service to my community/ Church/ or other volunteer service:

I have had lots of Church callings - mainly musical - as Ward Organist, Primary and Relief Society pianist, Choir Director, etc. Also a Primary teacher, nursery leader, ward librarian, Enrichment Leader, and currently serving as a Counselor in the Relief Society.
I have also been involved in PTA quite a bit, as Treasurer, Legislative Vice President, Fundraising Chairman, and helping with school activites.

What do you like to do in your spare time? Hobbies?

I love to read whenever I get a chance, and enjoy sewing and needlework. I guess my main hobbies are cleaning the house, taking care of kids and grandkids, driving carpools and running errands, helping people with taxes, and doing my church callings -- since that's how I spend most of my time.

Did you go to college? Which college did you attend? How long? Any degrees?

Before my mission, I attended Ricks College for 2 years, then spent three years, before and after my mission, at BYU. I graduated with a B.A. degree in Music, with a piano emphasis.

Travel much? Favorite places to visit? Places you want to go?

I haven't traveled a lot since I've been married, but have been able to go to California- San Francisco and Disneyland; Seattle, Washington, and Yellowstone.
I went to Europe before my mission (1979), and visited Germany, France, Switzerland and Austria, while my brother was stationed there in the Air Force.

Cool things you have done? Famous or interesting people you've met? Brushes with fame?

One fun experience I had a couple of years after I got home, was when I went to a BYU Fireside where Elder Kikuchi was speaking. After an enjoyable fireside, I decided I wanted to go up and thank him for his talk. When I went up to him, he looked at me and said, "I know you!" After several mission conferences where I had heard him speak (and maybe because I had played the piano at a few), I must have looked familiar enough to him that he recognized me after that long.

Favorite Korean food:

Pulkogi and chapjae.
I also like duk pogi and yakimandu.

Favorite Korean memories:

After this many years, the memories are beginning to fade. But I still cherish the memory of a couple of golden families that I taught, and hearing from them later and seeing how much they had progressed in the church. And I will always remember how much I loved the beautiful country and the people. That's such an integral part of my life, and I have definitely had a love for anything Korean since then. The people are the best!

Future plans, goals, Accomplishments, Bucket List:

My goals are to get the rest of my children successfully to adulthood - then have time to enjoy grandchildren, hopefully serve another mission, and I'd really like go back to Korea sometime. I still have a long list of things I want to do in my life. I hope I get time to do many of them.
