Susan Kay Baker was born on March 28, 1943 in La Junta, CO to Harry and Opal Dawson. She grew up in nearby Alamosa, until matriculating to the University of Colorado, graduating in 1965. Shortly after graduation, she met and married Pete Baker, becoming a mother to Chris and Sheri and soon welcoming Stacie into the family as well. Upon moving into Sundance Hills, Sue and Pete raised their family and met many lifelong friends. Sue decided to go back to school full time as an adult and graduated from University of Denver with an MBA while raising all three kids. She then ran the business office at South Denver Gastroenterology until retiring. She spent many years volunteering in the Denver community, first with Palmer Drug Abuse Program, then with the Junior League, and in the last few years at St Gabriel's. Sue and Pete loved to travel - favorite repeat destinations included Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, and Phoenix, and there were some fabulous trips with the kids and grandkids to Italy, Fiji, Belize, and most recently Key West. When not traveling, Sue could frequently be found on the golf course, nominally working on her game but primarily spending time with her countless friends. As a longtime season ticket holder, Sue spent a fair share of her Saturdays at Folsom Field and Sundays at Mile High Stadium - and in both places, hosting some epic tailgates. Her love for the Buffaloes and Broncos was so strong that several of her beloved dogs bore names related to those two teams. Sue leaves behind Chris (Jackie), Sheri, and Stacie (Trey), along with 7 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Pete, and brother Don.

Celebration of life to be held at St. Gabriel the Archangel Episcopal Church 6190 E Quincy Ave, Englewood, CO 80111 on Thursday May 26 at 2 p.m with a reception to follow at Denver Country Club. Those wishing to honor her life can make donations to St Gabriel's.
