Ivan Hof

Ivan Hof, a life long resident of Alamosa and respected business owner passed away Wednesday September3, 2014 at the age of 71.
Ivan was born in Alamosa, March 12, 1943 the son of Clarence and Nella Hof. He graduated from Alamosa High School in 1961. After graduation Ivan worked as a mechanic before joining his brother in co-ownership of Valley Lock and Security in 1973. Ivan was a longstanding member of the College Heights Baptist church where he was married to Rebecca Wells on December 30, 1982. He started the faith based “Sing to the King” radio program in 1985 which aired every Sunday on Radio station KGIW for 28 years. Ivan was renowned for ending each program with “May God bless you real good”. He loved playing fast pitch softball, training horses, fishing at Blue Mesa reservoir, taking trips on his Goldwing motorcycle and bird hunting. He was a true Colorado native who enjoyed viewing the Broncos and Rockies when time permitted. Enjoying the company of friends and family, especially his grand children, was a top priority. Ivan was also an avid rodeo fan and provided commentary to several rodeo events around Colorado.
Ivan is survived by his Wife of 32 years Rebecca Hof, his children Kevin Hof, Colorado Springs, Galen (Susan) Hof, Alamosa, Brian (Renee) Kahler of Pueblo, Michelle (Bryce) Hiigel of Lamar, and Cherise (Shawn) Minnick, Alamosa; His sister Ann (Jerry) Hoolsema of Rudyard Michigan; sister Sarah (Jack) Johnson, Alamosa brother Robert Hof of Alamosa, sister Claire (Bill) Heersink of Ogden, Utah; and brother David Hof of Pueblo, CO; his grand children Arah and Samuel Hof, both of Alamosa, Michael Brian and Jeremy Kahler, both of Pueblo, CO; Michael Niedens, Williston, North Dakota; Cole Hiigel, Lamar,CO; Cody, Crissa and Cheylynn Buxman of Alamosa. Ivan is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Ivan is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Nella Hof, his sister Jennie Hof, his brother Arthur Hof, and his son Jerald (Dean) Hof.
A visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00PM on Monday, September 8, 2014 at the Roger’s Family Mortuary in Alamosa. A Funeral Service is scheduled for Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 10:00AM at the College Heights Baptist Church. Interment will follow the service at San Luis Valley Cemetery in Monte Vista, Colorado.
