Jane Trogdon

Jane Trogdon passed at 8:25 PM, January 22, 2025 in hospice care at MacKenzie Place. Born January 7, 1943 at Fitzsimmons Hospital in Denver, Jane grew up in the San Luis Valley, graduated from Alamosa HS Class of 1961, earned her BA at Louisiana State University and a Masters in Counseling.

She taught history and English, served as a guidance counselor at Harrison HS, later as Chair of counseling, retiring in 2010. She was a member of several social and academic organizations, including Phi Delta Kappa. She was a founding member and officer of Harrison Credit Union and a strong supporter and contributor to Pillar, an adult education association.

She was a generous benefactor to many institutions, students and friends. Friends and colleagues remember Jane as the heart and soul of HHS. She was a remarkable, strong woman whose work ethic was unapparelled. She often kept score at the games and once escorted the cheerleaders to a conference in Paris. She had broad interests from politics, to history to traveling. Jane was an advocate of women’s rights and never backed down from a challenge guided by her commitment to the teachers and students she served.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Jo Trogdon Wagandt, her niece Marianne and nephews Charles (m) Lauren, Molly and Chase; and James (m) Carrie with Rosemary, Wiley and Holly Jane, all of Baltimore, MD and her goddaughter Shawana Quirk, Ft. Collins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James E, Trogdon, Jr., and Irma E. Jorgensen Trogdon.

In lieu of flowers, consider donations to the Red Cross, Partners in Housing, which serves 95% single mothers and their children, or Pillar.
