     Janice Catlin SmithAttended Adams State College - Graduated in 1965 with degree in Elementary Education.  Started teaching at Waverly Elementary in 1968 and taught 2nd & 3rd grade there until 1986, when the school was closed.  Came into town and taught at Boyd Elementary for 3 years and then moved to Evans Elementary where I taught 5th grade for 2 years.
     We love to travel and have been over most of the US.  I also love reading, doing stanined glass and going to our cabin.  Neil and I will celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary Aug. 11, 1991.

Janice L. Smith, 51

ALAMOSA - Well known Alamosa resident Janice L. Smith, 51, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 1994, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver.

Mrs. Smith was born on May 1, 1943, in Alamosa, the daughter of Lawrence N. and Margaret Wallrich Catlin.  She was united in marriage to Neil L. Smith, who survives in the family home.

A graduate of Alamosa High School and Adams State College, Mrs. Smith was a school teacher in the Alamosa School District for 26 years.  She was a member of the A.C.E.A. and both the Colorado and National Education Association.  She enjoyed Colorado history and arrowhead hunting.

In addition to her husband, she is also survivied by one daughter, Denise Smith of Mesa, Ariz,; a graddaughter, Shayne Smith of Mesa; her paternal grandmother Inga Catlin of Alamosa; one uncle, Raymond (Dora may) Catlin of Greybull, Wyo., and her sister-in-law, Kay Fleek, also of Greybull, Wyo.

She ws preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Larry Niel Catlin, on Jan. 11, 1976.

Creamation was chosen, and memorial services will be held on Thrusday, Aug. 18, at 11 a.m. from the Alamosa Presbyterian Church.

Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Christopher House, in care of Butler-Showalter Chapel, which is handling the arrangements.
