Arcadia, California - Former Alamosa, Colorado resident, Carolyn Faye McGinnis died September 26, 1984 at the Methodist Hospital of Southern California in Arcadia, California.
Carolyn was born to Edwin and Amanda McGinnis June 24, 1943 in Carbondale, Colorado. They latter moved to Alamosa where Carolyn attended the Alamosa School System until her senior year of High School. Carolyn left high school her senior year, however, she attended Adams STate College and received her GED certificate. She continued her studies at Adams State. After the family move to California she attended Pasadena City College in Pasadena, California, with her primary focus on psychology. Carolyn married her husband of 24 years, Don Henson, October 9 1960 in Alamosa.
Carolyn was very active in church work, she attended Community Bible Church in Pasadena, California of which Karl Malouff, a former Alamosa High School and Adams State graduate was pastor.
Carolyn volunteered as a councilor working with young girls mostly on drugs and run aways. She also worked with Rosie Greer, a famous NFL star who founded Inter City Missions in Los Angeles. Time permitting, Carolyn volunteered with Jim Dobson's Focus on the Family, Arcadia, Calif. before their move to Colorado Springs.
Carolyn was survived by her husband, Don Henson; three sons, Jeffrey Henson, U.S. Navy, Curtis Henson, U.S. Navy, and Chris Henson, freshman at Maranatha High School, Sierra Madre, California; Her parents, Edvin and Amanda McGinnis of Colorado Springs; two sisters, Barbara McGinnis Wallendorf and Patricia McGinnis Rilling, both of Colorado Springs and her brother, Ronald McGinnis, U.S. Navy.
Services were held at the Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel in Covina, California with the Rev. Karl Malouff officiating with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Parks, Covina Hills, Covina, Calif.
Carolyn's cause of death was an allergic reaction to aspirin and Tylenol prescribed by her doctor for a stiff neck.
