Alamosa Youth Killed In
Motorcycle Mishap


ALAMOSA — Floyd Hollis Patterson, 17. of Alamosa was killed  in a motorcycle accident at 5:45  p.m., Sunday at Orange, Calif.  The youth, a member  of the Alamosa unit of the Colorado National Guard, was stationed at Ft.  MacArthur, on a six months' tour  of duty. He was recently transferred there from Fort Ord, where he had been located since last  July.


Patterson, who was graduated  from AHS with the class of 1961,  was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William F. Patterson of 1905 Sunset,  northwest Alamosa.


A car hit the motorcycle on  which the youth was riding at  an intersection in Orange.  Patterson was born Dec. 27,  1943 at Grand Coulee. Wash., and  had lived here the past three  years. Funeral services and burial will be held in Alamosa, the  time and place to be announced  later by Butler and Showalter  mortuary.


Survivors are the parents: three  brothers, James H. and Carlos  Patterson, Alamosa and Bob G.  Patterson, and a sister, Mrs. Ray  Barnes, both of Iola, Kan.; and  the  paternal grandmother, Mrs.  Myrtie Osteen, Alamosa. Another  brother, Clyde Vernon Patterson  lost his life in a fire in 1945.

ALAMOSA — Funeral services  for Floyd Hollis Patterson, 17year-old son of Mr. and Mrs.  William F. Patterson of Alamosa,  will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday,  Nov. 11 at Butler and Showalter  chapel.

The Rev. Paul McDowell  of the First Baptist church will  officiate. Burial will be in the  Alamosa cemetery wifh military  graveside rites by the Alamosa  Unit of the Colorado National  Guard.


The youth was killed Sunday  when his motorcycle was struck  by a car at a street intersection  in Orange, Calif. He was located  at Fort MacArthur on a six  months' tour of duty with the  National Guard, following graduation from AHS with the class  of 1961.

Hollis was killed riding his motorcycle in California only a few months after graduation.  He was killed in 1961 and is buried in Alamosa, CO.
