ALAMOSA - Charlotte Karen Wilcox, 58, died Oct. 16, 2001 at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center in Alamosa.

Charlotte was born May 31, 1943 in Alamosa to Henry J. and Elfreida Flint Wiescamp, and married Lawrence "Larry" Wilcox on Dec. 30, 1962 in Alamosa.

She loved to ride horses and take walks in the mountains, playing the piano and organ, and watching horse races.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence "Larry" of Monte Vista; her children, Lawanda (Dell) Gibson of Aurora and Justin Wilcox of Denver; her brother, Grant (Chelle) Wiescamp of Alamosa; and her sister, Loretta Wiescamp of Pueblo; one granddaughter and seven nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ron and Larry Wiescamp.

Cremation was chosen and a Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Alamosa First Christian Church.

Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society in care of Rogers Family Mortuary, which is in charge of the arrangements.

History:  After graduation I attended C.S.U. in Fort Collins for a year and a half.  Married Larry Wilcox from Monte Vista.  When my dauther was 2 years old I attended Adams State for a year.  9 years later after a battle with cancer, I had a son.  We live 10 miles SW of Alamosa.  We raise horses, mostly rare horses, also mink, fox and the newest adventure is ostriches and elk.  I kept books for the Alamosa Auction (sale barn) 25 years.  We have a mountain ranch and cabin up the Alamosa Canyon. Spend a lot of time up there in the summer.  I still love to ride horses.  After 30 years, I'm still organist of my church.  My daughter married and gave me a granddaughter.  My son is a sophmore at Adams State with plans to go to C.S.U.  His interests is corporate management.  I've been married 28 years.
