Minutes from November Meeting:

No meeting was held in December...a lot of the committee members where busy. However, here are the minutes from the meeting held in November:

-First question asked is what happened to the December social: It was stated by Keysha Thompkins and Yolanda Fields, whom both spoke with Kenneth Jackson that the social was too close to the Christmas Holidays and not enough time for planning. Keysha Thompkins also stated she is booked for the month of December as well. It was recommended by Beniko Stils to start the socials three months into 2010 to allow better planning (March 2010) in which then the annual picnic scheduled will fall in place for June. Socials will be held every 3 months.
-Those in attendance agreed that the $120 ($10/mth) is reasonable but the class should also be polled. Class will be polled when 50 classmates sign up on Classcreator.
-Peter Bridges stated that he is willing to provide his culinary services and if he’s not able to he can connect the committee with a reasonable person.
-Keysha Thompkins/Yolanda Fields recommended that the committee know what’s being planned and what’s required of what has been planned for both the picnic and 2011 Reunion. Also what’s needed for the annual events should come from the class dues.
-It was recommended by those in attendance to establish by-laws for class dues. It was recommended that the by-laws should include the amount of the class dues, due dates, and what the dues will be used toward. A hardship waiver/clause was suggested by Yolanda Fields due to the current economy. It was recommended that the hardship clause include loss of wages/income…loss of spouse (additional income)…A classmate must establish a hardship to the committee 3 months before a scheduled event if he/she wants to participate.
It was recommended by those in attendance that children 5 and under eat free. Children 10 and older $10 additional. Nothing in my notes for children ages 6-9…lol….Maybe $5 additional?
Fundraisers were recommended by Monica Stills. One idea shared, is to set up a booth at down town events and sell food. All proceeds go to the class account. Car washes were also thrown out there.

-It was recommended that By-Laws be established for the Celebration committee in reference to Bereavement. It was recommended that the by-laws include a budget for immediate family and other family members…
Recommendations:
$75 Budget for immediate family. Inclusive of a flower/card/and food for one day. The night before services was recommended by Yolanda Johnson. (Immediate family are Classmates, Parents, and children. ) *Grandparent(s) if classmate was raised by his/her grandparent(s).
$25 Budget for other family members. (Grandparents, siblings)…Flower/Card

Other Business:
Poll the class for the 2010 picnic dates. Class will be polled end of December; beginning of January for 2 weeks.
Classmates Keysha Thompkins, Yolanda Fields, and Roderick Flowers all have P.O. boxes. It was recommended that we use one of their P.O. Boxes in which all agreed. Roderick Flowers agreed that his box can be used with no charge to the class. As assistant secretary Rod will open envelopes from classmates with either Leesonya Parker or Treasurer Yolanda Fields. It was reiterated that all mail from classmates is to be opened by at least 2 people and documented.
As event coordinators, Suggested to share contact info for Kenneth Jackson, Liquanta Thomas, Keysha Thompkins, Rashida Davis, and Cannice Ellis with each other.
December meeting scheduled for December 26…Time and place TBA. Suggestions are needed.

Meeting adjourned at 8:31 pm

When we went to DT Live, Monroe Class of 86 was holding a function and we felt the atmosphere was not good for us…treaded to Chill Bar….Had a good time. Hope to have more in attendance next time.

In the coming weeks I will provide a list of the class of 1996 and compile a list of Amissing classmates. Thanks for what you have done, what you are doing, and what you are going to do!
