I miss Don.  When we first had driver's licenses, he took me down to the mortuary to close up one night.  I thought it was pretty spooky, but he showed me around.  When we got to the casket room, he picked me up and put me down in one.  I was happy to see him several time over the years, and he was a good friend.

Although I was two years older than Don, I knew him very well because I spent a lot of time at his house over on Lafayette and was a very good friend of his older brother Mike.  I remember playing sports with and against Don and enjoying every moment of his friendship.  I had the occassion to attend his funeral and burial services in Santa Fe and what I remember most was someone told the story of how during the last few days of Don's life while he was in the hospital he and his family were reading poetry and their favorite poem was by Dylan Thomas - especially the line "do not go gentle into that good night".  While that story was sad it also said a lot about Don and how he lived his life.  Whatever Don did he was always "all in".  "All In" as in everything he did as one of your classmates and as a friend to us all, he never did anything half way.  I hope when you have your reunion next year Don will be remembered as the fine, fun loving, hard working person he was, someone who would go to the wall for everyone he know.  "All In".  May he Rest in Peace.
