I had grown up in the Mt. Vernon area, and as you know Robin, I went to Walt Whitman and then moved to the Ft. Hunt area for 8th grade.  So when the fire sent us back to Mt. Vernon, it was a fun thing but not necessarily a good thing for my responsible self.

I went with Mt. Vernon on Sr. Skip Day and we got a bunch of hotel rooms at Kings Dominion.  While we were at the park, a bunch of "friends" used our room for their party, and when we returned there were cop cars everywhere.  On the balcony were a bunch of guys lined up mooning the police.  They had ripped the TV out of the wall and dropped a keg in the bathtub cracking it, and who knows what else.  They all went to jail, and it took alot of convincing not to end up with them since it was my room.  Needless to say, I had little in the way of sympathy as to their plight of not having a ride home the next day when they were released from jail.

I loved your reminiscence re: Mt. Vernon Sr. Skip Day.  There is just one part of the story that I found less than credible.  That would be the phrase "responsible self" when applied to you.  It just doesn't parse with my memory.

Don't give me up!  I'm a foster mom now and they actually think I was a boring dweeb who only did homework and acted perfectly at all times.  See - responsible self - if only in their minds.
