Fort Hunt High School
Class of 1981

Fort Hunt Federals - FHHS60 is here!

SAVE THE DATES  for our school's 60th Birthday Celebration: FHHS 1963 - 2023

FHHS Alumni Association sponsored events will take place on:

  • Friday, September 29th
  • Saturday, September 30th
  • ...and the big All-Class Picnic event on Sunday, October 1st!

We want to engage everyone this year!

Our school's 60th Celebration (#FHHS60) will be bigger and better than our school's 50th Birthday (2013) and will include more swag, more alumni and more fun activities than we ever had in the past!

  • Friday Night  - 7 pm - O'Connell's in Old Town (Daniel O'Connell's Irish Restaurant and Bar) Kick-Off and Ice-Breaker.  112 King Street - located across the street from The Fish Market. Freebies, Specials and Swag!!!!
  • Saturday Day -  11 am - 3 pm - Carl Sandburg Middle School - 60th Birthday Program & Presentation in the auditorium of our old school, FHHS School Tours, Car Show, Guest Speakers, Memorabilia, Cannon photo ops & Memorial Garden Visits.
  • Saturday Night - Classes of '68 (55th), '73 (50th), '78 (45th) and '83 (40th) will be celebrating their Milestone Reunions. Details are being released now, but if you need assistance reaching those class representatives, let us know.  Plans are in the works!
  • Saturday Night Non-Milestone Classes will have other events, along with an Old Town Bar Crawl for All-Classes, locations to meet-up include Chadwick's (downstairs), Fish Market (bar, first or second floors) and O'Connell's. Old Town now has a portion of King Street closed for restaurant & bar use - along with the new Old Town RiverWalk and parks.
  • Sunday Day - The Big Event - Celebration for All-Classes @ Fort Hunt Park featuring food, fun, big memorabilia show and group photos!!!!  We have reserved ALL of Fort Hunt Park for our party to provide maximum parking and are sponsoring a shuttle to pick you up at the old school and bring you right to the pavilion. Food will be provided by the Alumni Association - no need for our usual Potluck Lunch - it's on us this year!

Year-Long Celebration: If you are interested in hosting smaller FHHS parties in your area (Richmond, Florida, NC, etc.) leading up to our fall events, let us know and we can help you advertise.  If during Reunion Weekend, you would like to host a class, team or club-specific (Class of '73, Football, Band, etc.) event, also let us know about it and we can help you advertise.

Volunteers:  We are forming a volunteer committee to assist the Alumni Board on this big, year-long adventure.  Would you like to help?  We are looking for website professional help, graphic design help, social media help, assistance with event set-up/take-down, swag, decorations, and general help for all events on the big weekend.

Your Main Source of Information for FHHS events is our FHHS-Alum.org website.  As we get additional information, we will update the website.  If you know alumni who are not signed up on the website, we ask you to share the website location with them and encourage them to register with us so that they can receive informational emails AND have access to the entire website. There are no fees and Federals' personal information is never shared with Marketing groups. The very popular Facebook platform also has information, but your official source continues to be the FHHS Alumni website.

"We are the mighty Federals and we're out to win!

Fight, fight!
We have an old tradition to which we all are kin!
Fight, fight!
The green and white will battle 'til victory is nigh!
Fight, fight!
We'll always stand behind our team from Fort Hunt High!!!!!!

Hear the fight song on the class of '77's website

The Fort Hunt Fight Song from Brad Rees.

This is from the final FHHS band concert, held at the Kennedy Center, and conducted by George Etheridge and Frank Wickes. (Is it my imagination, or was the fabled Wm Revelli there too? Or maybe it was just in spirit.) The Symphonic Band closed with the fight song, and although everyone was clapping and singing along, there were few dry eyes in the house.
