7/17/09 Dear classmates, Some of you but not all have heard the following;
My wife Alice suffered a pretty bad automobile accident on 6/16, where she was hit by a loaded 18 wheeler in Bamberg. The most important thing is she survived the crash. Very few if any, survive being run over by a loaded 18 wheeler. Her injuries included a dislocated shoulder, broken and cracked ribs, cracked pelvis, and a fist sized knot on her head with a wicked laceration. Mainly she was bruised, and beat up, but fortunately no internal injuries, or badly broken bones. The seat belt and air bag performed very well. After 5 days in the Richland Palmetto Trauma Center and now three weeks at home under my quality nursing care, she is healing nicely. She has graduated from a walker to a crutch and now a cane, and today I see her walking some without the cane. I appreciate the nice notes some of you have sent, and thanks especially for the many prayers. Currently I think she is on the mend. I felt comfortable leaving her at home alone last week as I had the opportunity to work, and while I was gone she actually drove into town to run some errands. There is no answer as to how this happened, as she does not remember anything about the accident. Eye witnesses say she stopped at the stop sign, looked both ways, then simply pulled directly into the path of the Mack Truck. She looked, but did not see. A senior moment??? She had a guardian angel riding with her! Bill Bryan
