I was living in Calif. with my husband, Irving (who had been a prof of mine at Mt. Holyoke Coll.), when Dad died. Then Mom had a horrible car accident and we ended up moving back here to help her. Irving died from surgery to replace his aortic valve in Oct. '14. Mom died in Jan. '16. I'm SO grateful to still have my sister, Barbara Wise-Rau HHS'73, and her husband Larry. It is also wonderful to re-connect with old HHS friends. I'm always looking for playmates: hiking, camping, kayaking, scuba diving, skiing... I'm very involved in Toastmasters and the Pgh. chapter of American Wine Society. Also a major fan of live theater--and boy, has Pgh. ever exploded in that field!
I remember learning to scuba in the NEW pool with Terry Brown Kenneweg; coming out to the parking lot on the last day to find that someone(s) had picked up my VW Bug and turned it sideways across two parking spots; BAND CAMP (OH the stories that could be told!); Mr. Phelps' famous paddle; working on The Hamptonian with Peggy Evans and Karen Krich; cracking jokes with Bob Henkel in Mr. Chero's History class; "Bill Dick Jim, Lynny and Ken--great big team let's do it again;" getting to choose Shakespeare, Black Lit, Advanced Comp and Creative Writing instead of "English;" Mr. Spanos' left-handed Lithuanians; and the very best: school picnics at West View Park. Thanks for all the great memories, my fellow Hamptonians!
