After graduation, I moved to Tulsa, Ok where I attended Oral Roberts University. After two semesters I determined that college was not for me, so I dropped out. My grades were poor and, although I loved school, I wasn't very good at it. I spent the next fifteen years working at Bennigans, Ritz Camera, Borders, Kohls, Pier One and then back to Beginnings...oops I meant Bennigans. Occasionally, I would see an old friend from Brantley or from church and we would engage in small talk about each others lives. I always felt unaccomplished, professionally. In between the many years of nametags and corporate polos, I did manage to flex the occasional creative muscle. In fact, I was in a Christian rap group for twelve of those years. We called ourselves Divine Culture, and although we never landed a record deal we succeeded in ministering to thousands of youth all over the southeast, and yes we do have a demo tape. I worked with my father for a few years editing video and audio for his company, Keith Curtis Productions, and for those who remember I am still taking pictures. I never could shake the image of the high school freshman with a camera around his neck. I shot my first wedding when I was a sophomore and I have been snappin' da pics ever since. My brother and I take pictures together now for Wade Photography. Forgive me, I am getting a little ahead of myself. After spending my twenties and early thirties trying to make it in the music biz, I met a perfectly beautiful and gracious woman. Her name is Noemi and she would become my wife in 2003. We had a gorgeous wedding and this November we will have been married for ten years. After our third year of marriage Noemi and I decided to go back to school. We moved to Tallahassee to attend Tallahassee Community College where I just received my AA. Turns out I was a good student after all. I graduated with an institutional 4.0. I will be starting as a Junior in the spring at Florida State University where I will be majoring in both Theatre and Creative writing. Also, I finally settled into a grown up job. I am the Set Operations Manager at the Florida State University College of Motion Pictures, Television and Recording Arts, a.k.a. the film school. The plan is to finish school and move the big apple, but who knows what the future holds.
