Roy C. Boehler, age 68, went to be with the Lord at 4:02 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
He was born on July 10, 1942 in Alton, IL, the son of Joseph H. & Melba E. (Hanold) Boehler.
He married Linda (Stiritz) on November 1, 1969 in Alton. She survives.
Roy was employed at Olin Corporation in the brass marketing department for 34 years, retiring in September of 2001. He was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Alton, where he was a deacon. He was also a member of the Smithsonian Institution. He enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, flying small aircraft and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife; four daughters and one son, Janice & Dennis Snelling of Phoenix, AZ, Lynda Wimsatt & partner David Hood of O’Fallon, MO, Sandy Salyers of O’Fallon, MO and Nicole Boehler and her partner Dr. Martina Buchmann of Tuebingen, Germany; Kyle & Bridget Boehler of St. Louis, MO; ten grandchildren, Callie, Emma, Brennen, Brittany, Christopher, Ben, Jacob, Joshua, Joseph and Maeve and several friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2010, at 1st Presbyterian Church in Alton, with Pastor Brett Hendrickson officiating.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
