Jon Connerton Staub, 76, died at 11:55 p.m. Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton.  Born November 7, 1941 in Alton, he was the son of John and Marjorie (Stover) Staub.  Mr. Staub graduated from Alton High School in 1959 and attended SIU Shurtleff campus in Alton.  He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963-1967.  He was a life long member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church until its closing and then joined St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey.  He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.  After 37 years he retired as an adjuster for Olin Brass.  Jon loved to travel and spent his life going to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.  Surviving are his sister and brother-in-law, Barb and Herb Boswell of Bethalto, two nephews, Timothy D. and Scott W. Boswell, a great nephew, Christopher (Shannon) Boswell, a great niece, Shelby Boswell, a great-great nephew, Ethan Boswell, and a great-great niece, Sydney Boswell.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his friend, Mary Jo Brooks and a great-great nephew, Sean Boswell.  Visitation will be from 9:00 – 10:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2017 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey.  Father Steven Janoski will officiate.  Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with full military honors by the VFW Post 1308.  Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church.  Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.  Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
