Donald L. Welch, 60, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born Aug. 23,1941, at Alton Memorial Hospital, he was a son of Weldon E. and Ella M (McCoy) Welch.
He married the former Linda Scott Nov. 17, 1962, at Main Street Baptist Church. She survives.
A former A & P store manager, he was later employed as a welder, retiring in 2000 from Turbo Care. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed family and fishing.
Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, April and Jeff Grimm of Glen Carbpn; a son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Diane Welch of Brighton; three grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan and Hayley Grimm; two sisters and their spouses, Mary and Harold Fulkerson of Godfrey and Donna and Bruce Bible of Lake Ozark, Mo.; two brothers and their wives, Charles and Mary Welch of Macks Creek, Mo., and Bob and Carrol Welch of Arlington Heights; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Don Welch was the best man at Verla & my wedding back in 1959. At that time Don had a 1956 Chevrolet Convertable and he took us to some place in St. Louis for dinner after our wedding. Don was a great guy.
