GILL
John A. Gill, 27, an employee of the Illinois Power Co. and a resident of 1028 Wallace St., Alton, was pronounced dead on arrival at 5:30 a.m. today at Alton Memorial Hospital.
The son of Harl Gill of Alton and Mrs. Mary Johnson of Alton, he was born Sept. 2, 1941 in Alton. He attended the Alton schools and Southern Illinois University, Alton Campus.
He served in Vietnam and was later married to the former Karen L. Epps, who survives, Oct. 26, 1968.
The member of the Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church was active in the choir and usher board of the church. He was affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America.
In addition to his parents and widow, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Joyce Robinson of Alton and Mrs. Joan Flowers of East St. Louis.
Funeral services were held for John A. Gill at 11 a.m. Friday at the Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. E. C. Allen officiating.
Burial was in Upper Alton Cemetery.
