HANSEN, BARBARA went to be with God in heaven Friday January 14th. Born in Alton, Illinois on February 22, 1941, Barbara moved to Chicago where she met the love of her life, Stan Hansen. Married in 1964, they moved to Dallas and raised two girls, Kimberly and Stephanie.

Barbara was a beautiful person, whose life was defined by a successful career, good friends, laughter and love. She was someone who truly loved her work in real estate, most recently a broker and founding associate at Keller-Williams, Park Cities. She got joy out of helping people find homes they adored and many clients became friends. A fixture on the local running scene, Barbara usually placed first or won a trophy in her age group. She ran her first marathon when she was in her fifties and completed three more. Unfortunately she couldn't outrun her cancer diagnosis in July of 2004. She was a fighter and gave it all she had because she loved life and people so much. She epitomized the spirit of the word fun-lover, from mountain hiking in Colorado, Florida beach trips with her family and marathon lunches with her friends. Her humor, enthusiasm and generous spirit are just some of the reasons so many people loved Barbara.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her but especially her husband Stan, daughters Kim Hansen and Stephanie Velisek. Sons-in-law Steve, Sugar Baby, Chambers and Bruce Velisek. Grandchildren, Jake and Haley Velisek, sister Georgeanne Stevens and Bill, and brother and sister in laws Russ and Carol Hansen and many nieces and nephews.
