Harry was one of our AHS football players that left a lasting impression on all of us. I was not only friends with him in high school but later he worked for the same company that my husband worked. When he would come to town he would always stop by the house and we would have dinner together. He taught me how to boil pork before I would barbeque it. Boy it makes it very tender then when you eat it. Harry had cancer. He was so proud because he was 3 time survivor. One of the last times I saw Harry is when he was in town for OI and stopped by our new home out Godfrey. He had parked his car at the lower level of our home and walked around to the deck that we all were sitting. He was very much out of breath and we knew he was possibly not in remission anymore. He was a tough old bird, he just wouldn't quit. He wanted to live. Well, Harry, your memory will live on forever.W. Wayne Peal, Sr.
Harry and I lived close to each other and used to play football together (prior to high school) and I never liked how rough he was, but that is what football is all about. Also Harry was much bigger than most of us at that time and I still am a little guy. But I really liked Harry and he was a great man. So sorry to hear about his passing.
