ALTON - Jimmie L. Wilson, 60, died at 4:13 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at Saint Anthony's Hospital.
 
Born April 30, 1941, in .Jackson, Tenn., he was a son, of Mattie Wilson of Alton and the late Jim Wilson.
 
After graduating from 'Alton High School, he attended Southern Illinois University and Tennessee State University. He served as a Boy Scout leader, was a semiprofessional football coach and security guard at Alton High School. Wilson served as executive director of the
Middletown Neighborhood Center, public relation and youth program director and was purchasing agent for the City of Alton. A former coach Of the Alton-Godfrey Renegade Football League, he was a member of Brown Faith Temple Church of God in Christ and received numerous awards and honors for his work in the community.
 
He and the former Lily Tyson were married on Sept. 19, 1965, in Alton. She survives.
 
In addition to his widow, and mother, surviving are, four daughters, Sheila Wilson, Deidra L. (Henry) Gower, Debra Wilson and Sakina Henderson, all of Alton; two sons, Jimmie Lee Wilson Jr., and Edmond Henderson, both  of Alton, and a special son, Nathan Tyson of Alton; eight
grandchildren, Aisha, Felice, Kaya, Terrence, Lasnyra, Dennis, Devon and Dominque;
a great-grandchild, Niani; three sisters, Daisy Logan of Alton, Catherine Luster of Springfield and Sandy Wilson of Godfrey; seven brothers, George Wilson of Springfield, Roosevelt Wilson of Huntsville, Ala., Larry and Mark Wilson, both of Stone Mountain, Ga., Robert and Edward Wilson, both of Alton, Richard .Wilson of Augusta, Ga., and a special brother, James Holloway of Godfrey; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
 
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shevonna.
