Howard William Schumacher, 62, died at 1:10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 17, 1940, in Alton to Clifford and Mabel Letitia (Drummond) Schumacher.
He married the former Janet F. Warren in Jerseyville on Jan. 9, 1967. She survives.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1966. A supervisor and groundskeeper at Rolling Hills Golf Course for the past 27 years, he started working with his father at Lockhaven Country Club and was later employed at Olin.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Lillian Schumacher and friend Charles Winsell, both of Jerseyville; two sons, Richard Schumacher of Jerseyville, William Lee Schumacher of Southern Illinois; two grandchildren, Bryce Allen Schumacher and Vanessa Emilyann Winsell; his sisters, Dolores (Bernie) Schott of Godfrey, Gladys (Ross) Crowson of Grafton, Shirley Schumacher and Letitia Schumacher, both of Alton; a brother, Robert
Clifford (Brenda) Schumacher of Godfrey; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-laws, Brenda Camerer of Alton, Joyce (Don) Noble of Godfrey, Barbara (William) Dahlberg of Overton, Colo.; two brothers-in-law, Henry (Jackie) Warren of Tilden, Ill., and Harold Souder of Dow; and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Glenn Eric Schumacher, and one sister, Imogene Souder.
