This is a very, very sad day for me.  Carolyn went to Milton Grade School and I went to Horace Mann.  I didn't meet her until 7th grade, and I immediately developed a huge crush on her.  She was a cheerleader, and very beautiful and popular, and of course she liked older boys.  I finally got up the nerve to ask her out when we were in ninth grade.  (The date wasn't a success, and after that we were just friends.)   She met my father and stepmother a couple of decades ago when they were all on vacation (in Mexico, I think!), and after talking to them and realizing how they were related to me, she sent me a very nice note.  Then, a few years ago, I heard she had been taken ill, but I thought she had come through it all right.  Rest in peace, dear Carolyn!

This is such a shock to me.  Carolyn cheerlead with me and we did a lot of things together during high school.  What a nice person she was.   Perry Coon's described her perfectly.  The big smile and always happy.  So glad she touched my life.  I sure didn't know she lived in Jerseyville.  So close we lived to each other and never saw one another in the last 10 years.  A lesson to all of us to reach out and tell those people that mean alot to you how much you enjoyed their friendship.  I loved her like a sister.  Cindy Kodros Garvey

Carolyn and I became close (figuratively) again during our vintage years. I was amazed at how positive she was during her battle and at how active with her church, the DAR, and her granddaughters she remained. I know that many of y'all will join me in missing her.

The world lost a bright light with Carolyn's passing.   All of us who knew her loved her.   She has had quite a struggle with her health, and I surely missed  her at the last reunion.    I remember competing in track with her at East Junior High, and her beating me in the 50 yard dash by .1 of second!   It was so good to spend time with her at our 50th.   We all have had a tremendous loss.

I am so sorry to hear of Carolyn's  passing. We were great friends throughout junior high and high school. We would even visit when she was at Tulsa and I was at Arkansas. Have so many fond memories of her and loved her infectious laugh.  I remember shortly after I got my drivers license ,I wanted to drive out to Carolyn's and my mother would not let me. Being the rebel that I was, not hardly, I did decide to walk to Carolyn's from my house  on Brown Street  to hers in Milton area. When I got there, her mother took one look at me and went inside to call my mother to come get me immediately because I had broken out in measles on the way out there.Carolyn excelled at everything she attempted. We could not ask for a better representative of our class than Carolyn Hope Miller!!
