Kenneth Beres

Have been in Ordained Ministry for 28 years. .
Preached my first sermon at age 18 (at the First Congregational Church in Alton, 600 Henry Street)
Have served churches in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Mexico and Rhode Island.

Happily Married (Monica and I were married on September 20th, 1997).

Earned my Doctorate in Ministry (D.Min) in July 2008.

Was active in the Student Senate. Anyone remember the "Mr. Senate" announcements at the end of the day? Also, was active in the Christian Fellowship (group used to meet on the front steps of AHS for prayer each morning).

One of my most interesting memories came the summer after Graduation. After having taken 4 years of German (from Herr Fisher and Frau Howald), I went to visit my Aunt and Uncle in Austria. About a week after I got there I decided to go to downtown Vienna (a very beautiful city) and just be a tourist. To my surprise they had opened a McDonald's across the plaza from St. Stephens' Cathedral... to my greater surprise, I found that in addition to the usual menu items, they also offered beer on the menu (oh, happy me!!!). I was the second in line when I heard a voice from behind me saying "Guten Tag, Herr Beres..." I winced and turned around... to see Frau Howald right behind me. The upshot was that I had to wait to have a beer at the McDonalds' in Vienna.

There have been so many other wonderful memories from Alton High, but I would love to hear from you as well.
