Alton High School
Class Of 1988

Randy J. Fleming passed away this morning. A celebration of life ceremony will be scheduled and updated here when available.

After this reunion i will also be handing off the class website to anyone who would like to volunteer to take it over. Including the cost of the domain name and the cost of the site itself.

This class reunion website was brought to my attention by Amy (Jones) Hillery. She and I liked what the page had to say and so I borrowed the letter that their class president wrote to her class. I have changed nothing and I give credit where credit is due! What she states in this hits home with many comments we have heard during the planning of the Alton High School Class Reunions. This was written by Stacy Reuter, Class President of the Austin High School Class of 1988. Just remember to insert Alton when she says Austin.

update: I changed the year to 25 in her letter.

25 Year High School Reunion Jitters
by Stacy Reuter, Class President 1988

The 25 Year Austin High School Class Reunion of 1988 is all about YOU being YOU!

Please know there is a certain amount of anxiety associated with attending a reunion.    As the reunion approaches
your mind becomes flooded with thoughts like:

Will there be anyone there I know? What if my old boyfriend or girlfriend is there? What if nobody remembers me?
What if I don't recognize classmates or remember their names?  What if someone was cruel to me or I was cruel to
someone else? I wasn't popular. I've put on weight. I've lost my hair. I got divorced. I don't have a job. I don’t have
kids yet. I have kids.

Relax! You are not alone in these thoughts. Everyone else is having the same exact thoughts and reunion jitters.
Don't let these thoughts get in the way of attending YOUR class reunion.

Bottom-line is we have all changed some for the good and so what, your not 17 anymore. The laws of gravity have
caught up with us all. Changes are an inevitable fact of life. Accept yourself for who you are. Be yourself. Let's
celebrate life's changes together.

Take this opportunity to come and have some fun, renew old friendships and make new friendships.  You will quickly
find that people are not there to judge you but are there for the same reasons you are - to have a great time and
touch their past. It can be a wonderfully rejuvenating experience. When it is over we can take comfort in the fact that
we have all changed, we've all gone down different paths in life but that we all still share a common bond.

Here's some tips to help you relax at the 25 year Austin High Class Reunion of 1988:

- Go with an attitude of having fun.

- Be yourself and be proud of who you are.

- Remember everyone will have changed. You're not alone.

- It's perfectly OK to not remember somebody. That's why name tags were invented!

- Don’t base your impressions of the 20 year class reunion on what high school was or was not. And do not base
it on previous reunions because we all really did not have time to grow into the true caring human beings that we
 are today!

- Be “comfortable” in your skin (fat or skinny) (bald or hairy) (rich or poor) and be comfortable with who you are
 as a person.

- DO NOT be judgmental but be more kind, accepting, and empathetic of not only others but yourself too!

It’s not about your job!             It’s not about your money!
It’s not about your cars!           It’s not about your looks!
It’s not about your house!        It’s not about you being better!

The 25 Year Alton High School Class Reunion of 1988 is all about YOU being YOU!
