Daniel L Calise

I got a message from Fred Sankey that Danny Calise died on Febuary 26, 2026  As soon as I find the obituary I will post it   Danny was a good friend of mine and especially to Fred Sankey and Randy Schoch.  I got a email from Pat Acker with Danny's obituary link and I thank her very much for sending it.

April 16, 1941  -  February 25, 2026

Capt. Daniel Louis Calise (Ret. USMC), 84,of Middleburg, FL passed away February 25, 2026. He was born on April 16, 1941 in Altoona, PA to the late Christopher and Eva Bella (Heidler) Calise. Daniel graduated from Altoona Area High School and joined the United States Marine Corps, retiring after 21 years of dedicated service with the rank of Captain. Following the Marine Corps, he decided on a second career, protecting his community with the Clay County Sheriff Office, also retiring after years of faithful service.

Dan loved music, and in his downtime enjoyed playing guitar and going out dancing. Whether it was spending time in the garden, boating with family or riding his motorcycle, he liked being outdoors. Dan cherished time spent with his family, especially his sons and grandson. He would talk to anyone and was always there to lend a helping hand to everyone, even strangers. Dan was a very meticulous person and appreciated order and structure in everyday life. He was a devoted and loving father, brother, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dan is preceded by his parents, Christopher and Eva Bella Calise and siblings, Christopher Dale Calise, Betty Irene Calise Soulsby and Richard Harold Calise. He is survived by his sons, Chris Calise and Cliff Calise; daughter in law, Adele Lavasseur; siblings, Robert Joseph Calise, Nancy Jean Calise Graham, Leona Bella Calise Yankovich and Scherry Calise Barra; grandson, Spencer Lee Calise and a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Friday, March 6, 2026 in the Jacksonville Memory Gardens Chapel with Chaplain Tim Martin officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until service time.

Although we ran in different groups,Dan was always a good friend to me and in my mind's eye he will look as he did in high school. Rest In Peace
