
David I. Lynch, 83, Altoona, passed away Wednesday at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Braddock, son of the late Robert A. and May (Wilson) Lynch. On March 7, 1964, he married the love of his life, Kathleen “Kathy” (Fix) Lynch.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years; his son, David J. Lynch and wife, Amanda, of Lakemont; granddaughters, Kaitland N. Lynch and her fiance, Phillip Noel and Jamie C. Lynch; a great-grandson, Declan Noel; and another great-grandson expected in June. He is also survived by his beloved dog, “Bailey,” and his sister-in-law, Anna “Jeanie” Lynch.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: Roberta Goss, James Lynch and William Lynch.
He graduated from Altoona Area High School in 1960. Following high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1965. During his time in the Navy, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the National Service Defense Medal and an Honorable Discharge Button. After his service, he returned home and worked for several years with Servomation before beginning a long career with the Logan Township Highway Department. He retired after 35 years, having served as a road foreman.
David cherished time spent at home, especially with his family, and had a special place in his heart for his two granddaughters, who were the true loves of his life. He was a proud 58-year member of the Lakemont Volunteer Fire Company, as well as the Pennsylvania State Fireman’s Association, Central District Volunteer Fireman’s Association and Central District Volunteer Fireman’s Auxiliary. Additionally, he was involved with the Bavarian Association, Loyal Order of the Moose, American Legion and the Heidelberg Country Club.
Friends and family will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2025, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona, and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Monday, May 5, 2025, at the funeral home, where a funeral service will also be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2025. Burial will be held privately at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
