Ronald L. “Ron” Rhodes, 82, formerly of Bellwood, passed away early Thursday. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Earl P. and Hazel (Boggs) Rhodes.
He married Linda L. Barley on Nov. 15, 1969, in West Virginia.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years; two daughters, Michele Rhodes (Troy Morris) of Dover and Rhonda Chappell (Butch Chappell) of Altoona; four grandchildren: Dejah (Justin Sr.), Amber, Jayme and Darren; six great-grandchildren: Justin Jr., Lillie Mae, Andrew, Stefon, Q, and Aaisha; and a great-great-grandchild, Jackson. Also surviving are two brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by six siblings: Richard “Dick,” Robert “Bobby,” Barney, Allen, Darlene and Shirley.
He was a graduate of Altoona High School, Class of 1960. In 1998, he retired from Preston Trucking Co. as truck driver, and as he put it, and loved telling everyone he met, “He pulled doubles.”
Ron enjoyed watching westerns, going to his camp to spend the summers, spending time with his family, and most of all — going out to breakfast.
At Ron’s request, there will be no services.
