George "Jud" Elliot Wood, 73, Altoona, passed away Thursday evening at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late George Thomas and Marjorie Jane (Magill) Wood. He married Judith A. Davis in 1966.
Surviving are two children: George T. and wife, Tammy, and Paulette A. "Polly," all of Altoona; four grandchildren: Nicole, Megan, Roseanne and Chase; five great-grandchildren: Abbigail, Seth, Laila, Jenelle and Aurora; two siblings: William C. and wife, Barbara, and Amy S.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Jud served in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman from May 1961 to May 1965. He worked as an engineer for Sylvania, Small Tube Products and North American Communications.
Jud attended St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Altoona, and was a former member of the Blair County Garden Club. He enjoyed designing and constructing machinery, gardening and reading. Together with his father and brother, Jud enjoyed trains of all kinds.
A gathering of friends will be held from 6 to 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery.
