Jennie A Zimmerman (Amrhein)

I got an email from Jackie Grove this am, that she saw Jennie's obituary in the Altoona Mirror. Thanks for watching, because I missed it.

It stated she died on September 9, 2019.  Full obituary to come.  I will post the complete obituary when it is in the paper. RIP  Jennie

**************************************************************************************************************************

Jennie A. (Zimmerman) Amrhein, 77, Altoona, passed away Monday, Sept. 9, 2019, at Altoona Center for Nursing Care, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late William H. and Martha Esther (Streightiff) Zimmerman. She later married Roy George Amrhein on Aug. 1, 1960, and he preceded her in death in 2015.

Surviving are two sons: Roy Galen (Dawn) and William (Jim); a daughter, Debi (Robin); two grandsons: Roy Gene (Kayla) and Matthew (Laura); two great-grandsons: Benjamin and Colin; a sister, Marie Nivens; a brother-in-law, F. Gene Amhrein; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Edward and “Bud.”

Jennie was a very loving and devoted mother. She supported and attended all of her children’s events. She spent much of her life in leadership for Cub and Boy Scouts in the area. Besides fishing and Pinochle, her greatest hobby was genealogy, holding offices at the Blair County Genealogical Society.

Friends will be received from 4 until the 6 p.m. memorial service Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019, at the Axe and Santella Family Chapel, 1534 Fourth St., Altoona.

This was incredibly sad.  She was such a giving person and before her illness was an integral part of the Blair County Historical Society.  I offer sympathy and prayers to her family....
