Fellow Classmates: We have not carried Martin E. Greiner in our listing of names from graduation.  He was a student with fellow classmates at Keith and may have graduated somewhere else. Randy Schoch found this information on Martin and wanted it added to our listing.  I am sure some will remember Martin, and we are sad to add him to our memory board.  

 

Martin E. Greiner, 66, of RD 2 Box 623, Lot 19, Altoona, died May 2008 at Altoona Regional Health System, Bon Secours Hospital Campus, after an extended illness.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late John and Regina (Karl) Greiner. He married Bonnie McConnell Oct. 8, 2005, in Altoona.

Surviving are his wife; two sons: Martin E. Greiner Jr. and wife, Lynn, of Salisbury, Md., and Jeff Greiner of Altoona; three stepdaughters: Tami McCreery and husband, Joe, Wendy Frederick and fiance, Bill Friedenberger, and Billie Savoy and husband, Eric, all of Altoona; a brother, Edward Greiner and wife, Marle, in Mississippi; 16 grandchildren: Lance Greiner, Melody Singleton, Colby Greiner, Brande Greiner, Samantha Greiner, Zachary Greiner, Mitchell Greiner, Nathan Perry, Arian Savoy, Paine Savoy, Masyn Savoy, Storm Savoy, Ireland McCreery, Hunter Friedenberger, Ty Friedenberger and Drake Friedenberger; a great-granddaughter, Trinity Singleton; sister-in-law, Rita Greiner; special nieces: Debbie Ball, Kathleen Cassarly and Jennifer Watts; special nephews: Walter Beech and Raymond Greiner; half-sister, Emma Heffinger; and special friends: St. Jude, Gerald “Woody” VanOrmer, Mary Vigliotti and Teddy Evans. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Tristan; three brothers: Raymond, Herbert and Regis; and a sister, Catherine Frederick.

Mr. Greiner was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

He was a self-employed carpenter for more than 40 years.

He was active as a youth football and baseball coach for many years and was the director of the Altoona Parochial League in the mid-1970s.

Mr. Greiner enjoyed golf and spending time with his grandchildren.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation. A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
