I went to college and received a BSN from the University of Oregon, College of Health Sciences. I married David Jensen in 1970 and we had three children, Crystal, Eddie and Renae. Renae died at 1 day old. Her death changed our lives forever, but what a joy it was to have her even for a moment. I worked part time in nursing for years, mostly in Intensive Care and Emergency Dept. Dave and I divorced and then I remarried Jim Irving in 1984. I gained 3 children as a result of that marriage. It is a challenge blending 2 families but what a joy it has been. I have had 23 exciting years with Jim. He has been my best friend through life. I finished my Master's Degree in Nursing in 1991. Jim retired from the Army National Guard as a colonel and has had a couple different careers since then. I have lived in Pocatello, Hillsboro, Ore, Twin Falls, Boise and Idaho Falls. I have loved being a nurse for over 35 years which included staff nursing, management, teaching nursing at Boise State and being a part of state and national professional organizations. I worked at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls as the Chief Nursing Officer. We have 13 grandchildren (5 boys and 8 girls) Our newest great granddaughter was born in December, 2014. Our grandchildren range in ages from1 yearold to 21. We love to travel, RV, hike and most of all, spend time with our kids and grandchildren.
3/4/2012 Not sure if I am doing this correctly, but thought I would update our comments. We have moved to Meridian, Idaho to be closer to 10 of our grandchildren. We are expecting a new grandson in May which will bring us to a bakers dozen! I am still working for a couple more years and Jim is retired and taking great care of me!!
9/1/2012 Wow!! I can't believe it September already!! Our little grandson was born in may and is 3 months old. What a delight.. . . . one of God's very special blessing! We are loving Meridian, still working and loving life!!!
2/2/2016 How time passes. We built our retirement home in Star, Id and now we are both retired. I do a little consulting with local hospitals, but other than that we travel a little and spend lots of time with family. Our health is good and we keep busy.
There are so many memories of my senior year at American Falls. I was new to AF that year, and you all were so kind and welcoming. It was a great year, and I made life long friends. I remember all the late night rabbit hunting with Paul, Bob, Marc, Ade, Kay, Susan, Marie and Karma. It wasn't the shooting that was so fun, but rather all the laughing and good talks we had. What a summer!! Lot's of fun water skiing with Clark and Stan and good times with Larry. Teri was so fun to go to the fair with, that girl could put away the goodies!! I often think about the kind guidance that I received from Tim Hayhurst. . . . especially one cold morning while we waited for the school gym to open up for drill team practice. I was kicking the bottom of the door when, crash!!!!, the glass shattered! Now how was I going to explain that? I figured my life was over as I knew it! Instead of the capital punishment I imagined, Tim just put his arm around me and asked me what I learned from this experience that I could take with me in life. What a great man!!
Thanks for allowing me to so quickly be a part of your class and your lives! That meant a lot to a young girl who was unknown and so frightened to be a senior in a new school. You all shaped my life!!
