Steve,

Thank you for organizing the reunion. Would there be a dial in number? I would happy to be involved in the planning, but live in Boston & mid-week travel is pretty tough due to traffic, but could contribute to tasks which do not require me to be at mid-week meetings.

Steve,

I was out of town for the first meeting (eldest son got married - talk about feeling OLD), but I'm definitely interested in the process, more than willing to help, etc...

Can someone post what happened to our classmates that passed away?

David Hamel was killed in a motorcycle accident 9/1/2000. Ovie Morrill, I think, died from a fall down some stairs October 1999. Mark O'Neil was in a fatal car accident in 1996(aprox). Darel Harlow sufferred a fatal heart attack a couple years ago...not sure of the date. Jeff Cameron had acute luekemia and passed away a short time after his diagnosis...not sure when but it was before David & Ovies' Passing. All very tragic and hard to fatholm!

Life is short. Treasure every day you have. Don't sweat the small stuff.
Keep your friends and family close. See you all at the reunion.

It is my intention to invite the families of our deceased classmates to use the deceased class member's profile page to put together a memorial or tribute. I am finding that numerous members of the class have been saddened to learn just recently of the loss of a few of our classmates. Hopefully, we'll have a place to go to remember our time together with them.

I just knew there had to be something like this for our class out there somewhere. I should have known Steve would get it all together for us. I'm hoping to attend the next reunion meeting...it will be great to see some old familiar faces.

Hello mates! Yes sir, Steve is the man. Think it is safe to say we made a great choice as to who would lead us. Unfortunately, I will not be able to make the reunion but it sure sounds like fun. If anyone ever comes out to Idaho be sure and contact me. Plenty of room at the house to stay. George has been here a couple times. Anyone still playing hockey?

I have some pictures from our Junior Prom - just need to find the book they're in! I have one less than I used to have, but I don't think Lynne and Scott(Terry) are going to share it, right Lynne? LOL

Junior prom........good times, goooood times.
I remember Jill Davis (Knox) doing a running face-plant on the way in, and my Dad refusing to take pics because he didn't like my date.

Hello everyone! Just got added to the class list & website thanks to the reunion committee, Christine and Steve who I would officially like to thank. I know I moved away before high school. Always felt like my Amesbury classmates and childhood friends were a missing piece. Was terribly saddened to hear of the precious lives we have lost. Darel in particular was somone I had hoped to laugh with again. His dad was always one of my all-time favorite teachers! I remember racing Darel and Brad McCallister through the SRA Reading cards in 5th grade to see which of us could finish first. Lots of memories like that. Todd was the first to send me a message. Thsnks Todd! I look forward to catching up with many more of you soon!

Hi Everyone,

With Caroline so happy to reconnect with so many old friends, it got me thinking about other old classmates we have lost touch with. It would be fun to know about them and include them also.

Some names that came to mind are:
Hank True
Denise Justin
Beth Webber
Cindy Soucy
Anne Cavaretta
Tammy Lavoie
James Gibbons

I know Anne C's nephew so I could look her up if any one is interested.

We could have a lot of fun here. Friends are friends whether we all graduated together or not. We all went to the same school system. Amesbury is a sort of a melting pot with St. Joseph's, Sacred Heart, and South Hampton all coming in at various times. Then we lost some who moved away or went to different high schools. All the same we have shared many years of experience together that has, for better or worse, influenced us towards the adults we have become.

I grew up near Cindy Soucy...She lives in Minnesota or Michigan. Did you know she is one of 14 children? I will look up her sister Janine that lives in Danvers, MA...Janet

In thinking about those we've lost too soon, I started thinking about Tammy Carroll, lost in 5th grade to a very tragic house fire. I still to this day remember crying in the bathroom with Mrs. Hatch and a bunch of other girls in our class. I know not everyone remembers her, since some of our classmates joined our class after that, but I'm sure many people do. Her step-brother, Jon Brown, was part of our class as well. Could we include Tammy on the "in memory" page?

08/20/08 09:39 PM #32

Janet Osborn (Rousseau)

Tammy was my best friend in 4th & 5th Grade...I SO remember her. I remember Mrs. Hatch crying in the weird room between her's and Mr. Peterson's class. I remember my Dad coming into my room before school to tell me about the fire. He cried & I couldn't cry. I could not fathom what it meant to hear my friend died! And they sent me to school that day! Would we send our kids to school? I had to tell a bunch of kids on the bus what happened. Cindy Soucy, Weenie Roy(Laureen), Scott Roy...etc. I had nightmares even past high school with Tammy in it some how. I picture in my mind what she would look like and wonder if she would marry and have a family, etc... They lost 5 girls out of seven children! How very tragic! I think about that so often... Heidi you were right to bring up that story. Do you or any one have that little green book with the memorial dedication on the back cover? It would be great to have that at the reunion. Janet

I already called my mom to see if she might still have a copy. I know we had a copy when we still lived on Market Street, but like my mom said, its been about 20 years since they lived there, so there's no telling where it might be. I'll be stopping by her place tomorrow night to visit with her and take a look for it. I remember we dedicated the book to her and even had her picture - remember the ones with the little Liberty Bell? Keep your fingers crossed that she still has it!

Wow! I still can see her smile too!! She was such a sweet girl. I remember being so numb and confused then too! We had a similar tradgedy the first year I lived in Ipswich with a boy in my class Mark Norris and his dad and brother. I was able to help my Ipswich classmates a little because of our loss with Tammy. So sad! On a happier note I will be getting together with Cathy Ouelette Fougere at Disney next week while she is here with her family! Yay!! That means I'm now officially back in touch with my three childhood best friends. Christine came to visit early this summer. Lynne and I are burning up the phone lines and having a million laughs about ice skating, bike rides and my old clubouse fort. Now Cathy and I are remembering our Barbie obsession and matching Holly Hobbie lunchboxes. I am absolutely treasuring this reconnecting with old friends!! Sooo many in the class have reached out and it has been fantastic! Thank you all for the messages and calls. I urge all of you to reach out to each other. Even if you have drifted or weren't that close after childhood, trust me the payoff is worth it. I would love to get in touch with Cindy Soucy when one of you gets her info again please too! Thanks!!

I know I have one of those 5th gr. books that we did with Mrs. Hatch. I will look for it, and get back to you if I can find it. NOthing's changed; I still misplace everything. That was quite a project that we did as a class.

Okay - here's a challenge for EVERYONE. I just sent about a dozen pics to Arline and will be sending a couple more after I get permission from the people in the pics. So all of you need to dig out your old photos and albums or go to your parent's house like I did and get some pics so EVERYONE can send at least one pic to Arline. C'mon, she's working hard to put together some memories for us - let's give her a helping hand!
