Thank you for the recipe Heidi, we all appreciate it..
Now I can show my husband and daughter what me and my sisters have been talking about all these years. I am going to send them copies right now.

A pot luck would be so much fun.

I just emailed back to Judy that we should find someone with the biggest house(paula)and see how many people we could get to share favorite yummy recipes and maybe a rollup contest or whatever! It could be fun... who has the biggest house?

You guys are KILLING me with all this roll-up talk!! Thanks Flappah for the recipe. Can't wait to try it & see if they're as good as I remember.

Soooo good to see all y'all, and I'm sorry I didn't get to say "hey" to everyone. If there's a mini-gathering soon (with roll-ups or without!) I'll be there with bells on.

Let me echo everyone else's "THANK YOU" to Arline, Steve, Judy, Paula, Cindy, Lisa & Maureen - hope I didn't forget anyone?? - for a fantastic event. You guys really worked hard to make a special evening for us all. I hope that more of us stay connected through the site & don't wait anothe 5+ years to see each other!

Janet helped too and Norman, we had fun. I was most worried that it would not be as fun as I had hoped...like a let down that I always set myself up for. But No Way! It was so much MORE fun than I ever anticipated! Everyone?

Kudos to who ever put those 2 music CDs together. They make good travel companions for me when driving to my gigs. I remember paying many of those songs with Danny, Mark, John, Brian and Jeff (although not played very well). I remember tearing the ACL in my right knee jumping from a PA speaker during "should I stay or should I go" at Chaps in Amesbury... 1986. Good memories for me. Thank you!

There were so many that helped make this reunion possible with a core of diligent committee members who faithfully worked week after week. A big thanks to everyone involved to make our night one to remember!

The core:
Steve Sanborn
Darrin King
Lisa Mansourian (Worden)
Maureen Casey (Sunnersburg)
Arline Grant
Paula Chorebanian (McPartland)
Judy Walton (Dodier)
Normon Cook
Janet Osborn (Rousseau)
Cynthia Goldthwaite (Kelly)
Carolyn MacDonald (Fowler)
Christine Denault
Also:
Breta Dahlstrom (Palmer)
Scott Terry
Lynne Fournier (Terry)
Stephanie Burke (Bardouleau)
Michele Lemieux (Horgan)
Paula Gleed (Minter)
Lynne Hodgdon (Bohley)

Jeff Gleason for the music

It was truly amazing to be a part of the network of everyone reaching out to find one another. There were many who didn’t come to the reunion but all the same sought out others to let them know about the reunion. The chain reaction of one finding another who contacted another was fantastic! Thank you all so very much. I could name names here but I would be listing practically the whole class who is registered and some who are not. We know who we are!!!

If I missed anyone, I apologize.

Yes! Ditto on the 2 music CD's. Whoever put them together, THANKS! My eleven year-old son loves the Safety Dance! lol. However, we now have to listen to it everyday on the way to school. All the other songs were great picks though. THanks again!

Has anyone tried the rollup recipe and is it the same???

09/25/08 12:34 PM #124

Caroline Krause

Hi all! Sooooo sorry to have missed the reunion but hereby solemnly swear that I will make it to the 30th for sure!

Been trading email and calls galore catching up with everyone. Loving that!!

PLEASE consider backing up Arline Grant in her quest to get penpals and adoptions for her soldiers in the Adopt a Platoon program at adoptaplatoon.org. There are so many waiting to hear from someone here back home. It only requires that you write to a soldier once a week either a card or letter. Once a month a care package with small items too if you want to adopt in addition to just being a Pen Pal. It would be great for a project with your kids as a learning tool as well. Think about having your whole family adopt someone.

I have two close friends with brothers who just got back from a third deployment to Iraq and know firsthand that these little caring gestures from the folks at home make a world of difference to those out in harm's way.

If you can't take on the weekly committment there are a whole slew of other ways to help that are covered on the website.

Arline's Facebook Page is covered with all the ways she wants to help out enlisted men and women. It is her sincerest wish that we all adopt a soldier. I can't do that much alone, but if a bunch of us take care of one soldier we can make a big difference as a group. I feel honored to be paying it forward. Hope you will too!

one soldier adopted!

Arline Grant

OMG! First off, Caroline...THANK YOU! Lynne, THANK YOU!!!

Caroline...what a beautiful email. "Paying it forward!"
It's what it's all about.

Sadly, every once in a while, we get desperate for supporters and now is one of those times. Thank you for reading my Facebook plea and taking it to heart.

Adopting a Soldier truly is a "gift we give to ourselves".

Enjoy them! Spoil them!!!!!!

I couldn't be more proud of where I come from and the people I shared my youth with.

THANK YOU!

Love,
Arline

Arline,

I am confused about the adopt a soldier program. I filled out the application and haven't received any information on my soldier as far as name, address, etc. I thought I would have gotten an email with the information but i've gotten nothing. Help!

09/26/08 01:25 PM #128

Arline Grant

Lynne,

You get ahone call first from one of our volunteers who explains the program. Since Sept 11th we've made it a policy to speak to every new supporter and everyone who works with us is a volunteer. The woman who goes through the applicaions had a family emergency last night and I know this morning one of the board members was going thru her email account and sending the apps out to the callers. It can sometimes take a few days to get a call.

I agree with Gleason...your all whacked...heh,heh...

Heidi Clark (McIntyre)

Oh, c'mon Bill (& Jeff) you guys are just upset that no one has made roll ups to share yet. tee hee hee I have some Banana Peanut Butter bread in the oven if anyone is interested....gotta use up the really ripe bananas y'know

09/28/08 01:52 PM #131

Karen Motley

One more roll-ups question! Is it baking soda or baking powder that should be used in the recipe? (Please remember you're talking to someone who has spent a few years in an apartment where she still doesn't know whether the oven even works....very bad, I know!)

09/28/08 07:18 PM #132

Lynne Hodgdon (Bohley)

Went to make the roll up recipe today and forgot shortening and was out of cinnamon! Won't be making it today!

Damn...and no kitchen to make them currently but have the girlfriend working on them for when I get home...

Seriously, I want to thank you all for the kind notes and thoughts. Also Arline, the care packages were a big hit with the boys as some were running short on a few necessary items. Sometimes the supply lines don't keep up with the movement. Especially thanks for the Dunkin Donuts coffee....it was a huge hit (and Mark L feel free to drop in for a cup or we can just hit the one in my hometown next time i am home)

I would echo the sentiments expressed by others...never forget as you go about your daily lives there are those still fighting to keep terrorism from ever reaching american soil...keep them in your hearts and prayers and if you have the means.. an occasional card, letter, or even a care package is greatly appreciated. Again thanks for your support and I have to say...I got several hours of enjoyment from the CD (both music and pictures)...My god the hair.....but I guess some of us are still wishing we had some around still :)

Lynne Hodgdon (Bohley)

To all,

I made the rollups! Let me tell you how totally AWESOME they came out, right down to the slightly undercooked middles!!!

10/01/08 07:37 PM #137

Stephanie Burke (Bardouleau)

I'm in for the road trip....I'll sit beside the cooler and be in charge of beverage distribution. (heh heh)
