Wow, where did the time go?
In my senior year of high school, I had a boyfriend named Frankie that I was so in love with, that was a great year in 1980. I began college at D'youville, my mom taught nursing there and I didnt have to pay tuition. Most of college is a blur
because my Frankie died and it was the hardest thing I ever had to go through and it is still hard to deal with today. My senior year of college I pledged my beloved sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha of which I am involved with today. I graduated from DYC with a BA in communications. I met my hsuband to be Samuel at a fraternity party while he was attending UB, I worked at Reeds Jewelers in the Boulevard Mall for a while but being an only child I needed to spread my wings. For a short time, I was a flight attendant with Eastern Airlines which allowed me to move to NYC, I lived in Queens in an apartment, just me and my cat. I was laid off and started working in the garment district (i was in heaven) at Liz Claiborne, oh the sample sales constantly called my name! :) I then relocated to Rochester, NY to be near my boyfriend Samuel, I accepted a different position still with Liz Claiborne as a sales rep with the newly formed jewelry line. Sam and I got married, it was a beautiful wedding and reception, we went to hawaii for our honeymoon and I blinked my eye and I was pregnant, 8 months later our daughter Aja was born, (she was premature) she was the 1st grandchild and 1st great grandchild, consumed with love from my family. I started law school in 1997 at UB, I was Student Bar Association President, I did everything in grad school that I didnt do in undergrad. I thought my 2nd year in school would be a good time to have another child so 5 years after Aja was born we had Alexa who has not stopped talking since she started! I received my jd, worked briefly in Supreme Court and then used my law degree to assist me with my HR career. 5 years after Alexa was born we had Aliya and then I sent my husband to the doctor to shut down the spermies!!!!
My parents divorced a while ago, I have always been so very close to my mom. 2 years ago my mom decided to have surgery to insert a stint in her carotid artery that would prevent her from having a stroke, that surgery changed our lives forever. She came out of surgery normal, however, during the night, she had bleeding on the brain, they had to operate which resulted in her having a stroke, everything that could of went wrong did. She cannot move anything on her left side, she never returned home to the beautiful house she worked so hard for and she is in a nursing home. One day I went to visit her and she looks so different that I walked right by her not realizing who she was. My heart is broken, but she is still here (although very different) and all I can do is remain prayerful.
My daughter Aja is 17 and a senior in hs, she has consistently maintained stellar grades and wants to be a pediatrician. Alexa is 12, very smart and she will talk to ayone from 1 to 101, my social butterfly. Aliya is 7 and a combination of her 2 older sisters, she started piano this year and starts gymnastics next month.
I have been married now for 18 years to a wonderful man who has to put up with a house full of girls, even our dog paris is a girl. I have a great family and absolutely wonderful friends in my life, I am blessed. I heard a song in church today that goes.. if he never does another thing for me he's done enough.

School Story:

I have great memories of Sweet Home. So many nice people, even if you didnt socialize with them, mostly everyone was kind (that I know of). I recall talking to friends between classes. Coach Wyatt trying to make me feel guilty for not wanting to do track my senior year. One of the twins teaching me how to do a standing backflip, cards in the cafeteria. Brenda and Gwen were my best buddies and I still love them today.
