In high school I played goalie for the Buffalo Junior Sabres. After high school I enrolled at ECC for computer science while still playing for Jr Sabres. Due to my heavy hockey travel schedule, grades were an issue.
In April 1981, I was hired at an orthodontic lab (Great Lakes Dental Technologies), which is located in Tonawanda, NY. While working there, I continued playing hockey for the Jr Sabres. In 1982, I took a 2 month leave of absence for a free agent tryout with the Buffalo Sabres. After two weeks in camp I was sent to the Rochester Amerks, then to Atlantic Coast League. After two months I returned to Great Lakes.
I continued working at Great Lakes while taking a few night classes @ ECC and in 1989 became a certified dental technician. In 1996 I became a part-time faculty member at the State of New York at Buffalo, School of Dental Medicine’s Orthodontic Department as a Laboratory Instructor. I continue to work at both Great Lakes and UB. I’m presently an Instructor/Technical Specialist at both places.
In 1985, I married a wonderful woman (Lori) who graduated from Kenmore West High school in 1980. We reside in the Town of Tonawanda. We are presently empty-nesters and expect to be investing in weddings soon (Jamie-1986, Lora–1989 & Trevor–1993). I still enjoy hockey and had been coaching for many years at many different levels (retired coaching 2019).
Whenever possible I love to hit the slopes in winter, hit the tropics near the end of winter, and enjoy the water in the summer. We have a few water toys and spend many summer weekends on our boat that is docked at the Niagara River Yatch Club.
My mother still resides in the original house I grew up in off of Sweet Home Road. On a sadder note, I lost my father and brother Doug (former Sweet Home Grad) to cancer. I dearly miss both of them...
